Identity Album Cover

Due: December 13th

Pretend you are a band putting out their next Album.  What would your cover look like?

Objective:  Students will learn how to use selection tools, filters, blend modes, and layer masks to make a dynamic abstract image.

Essential Objective Question: How did you use the selection tools help you achieve your desired outcome?


Selection Tools Cheat Sheet - Click to view

Requirements:

-Must use 13 images representing your identity (may be from the internet or you can bring in your own)

-Must use a filter

-Must use a blend mode

-Must use Text somewhere (can be a quote, name, date, etc.)

-Must use a paint brush to add an effect

- Must use opacity

-There should be no 4 corners visible on the pictures.  Must be cut with the selection tools.

-Image Must blend and flow together. DO NOT Copy/Paste a collage. 

**TIP!  Try rotating your objects, flip them sideways and upside down. Try overlapping.

Andy Warhol POP Art

Objective: Students will learn to navigate the selection tools nd layers while discovering Andy Warhol and Pop art.

EQ:  How were you able to select the color with ease? What tool?

Pop Art Cheat Sheet  
  1. 1. Take a picture of yourself or a friend and upload to Photoshop.  
  1. 2. Make a new document that is 8x10 and a resolution of 300. 
  1. 3. Pull in picture to new document and size it to the page. 
  1. 4. Hit the crop tool  then hit the return button twice. 
  1. 5. Go to Image> Adjustments> Black & White. Hit Okay.  
  1. 6. Go to Image> Adjustments> Brightness & Contrast.  Adjust until you have a nice crisp black and a vibrant white.  
  1. 7. Go to Filter> Filter Gallery>Artistic> Cutout. Move the slider bars until you have 3 Values of grey within the picture. Hit Okay when done.  
  1. 8. Make a copy layer of your original image. LOCK ALL THE LAYERS.  
  1. 9. Make a new blank layer by hitting the page icon (looks like a post-it). 
  1. 10. Click on the still locked portrait layer you made and select the magic wand tool. Tolerance should be set at around 20 and contiguous should be unchecked. 
  1. 11. Click on a shade of grey, black, or white.   
  1. 12. Switch to the unlocked layer 1.   
  1. 13. Pick a color and paint using paint brush tool. 
  1. 14. Repeat steps 10  13 until all the grey, black, or white is filled. 

Examples:
